Indian Cuisine

Indian cuisine has been around for thousands of years and was created by combining different population groups with their eating habits and traditions. from most of these angles, the dishes on the table, which we have also incorporated into our menu. It is almost impossible to describe all regions on one page, so we have listed some of the most important regions below which also appear in our menu:

Kashmir

The Kashmir region in the far north of India is known for its red Kashmiri pepper, a bright red pepper with a mild flavor. In this part of India you will find many influences from Central Asia and the surrounding countries, Pakistan, Tajikistan and China. Dishes from the Tandoori oven are popular here and the curries are often eaten with rice or bread. A well-known dish from this region is Rogan Josh, which we have in our menu.

Punjab:

Punjab is a region in the North of India, close to the Pakistani border. The people of Punjab are most used to eating out of all Indians. It is for this reason that Punjabi cuisine has traditionally dominated Indian restaurants in both India and abroad. The dishes of the Punjabis are therefore known worldwide. Well-known Punjabi dishes include tandoori chicken, makhani murgh (butter chicken) and dhal tarka (lentil curry).

Uttar Pradesh:

The Uttar Pradesh region in the north of India has several regional cuisines, of which Awadhi cuisine is the most important, originating from the large city of Lucknow. It is a refined and very rich cuisine, in which aromas such as saffron, rose water, cardamom and mace play an important role. There are many similarities with the cuisines of the surrounding countries such as Iran or Pakistan and that is why you will find dishes such as kebab, biryani and pulao. A well-known curry from this region is Korma, a mild dish with nuts and (dried) fruit.

Goa:

Goa is a small coastal region in the west of India. Here fish and seafood are a very important part of the meal. Fish is usually combined with rice and in curry dishes combined with coconut milk. You will also find clear influences from the time of the Portuguese. The Portuguese introduced the red chili pepper. A famous dish is Vindaloo, a curry with vinegar, garlic and chili peppers.

Nepal:

Typical Nepal food is Dal Bhat. Dal is a kind of lentil porridge and for the Nepalese it is one of the most important protein sources. In addition to Dal Bhat, they also eat the so-called Tarkari in Nepal. This is slightly more varied with fried vegetables. In addition, the dumplings (Momos) are very traditional in Nepal. These are made from a simple dough of flour and water. Sometimes a little yeast or baking powder is added for a more doughy texture.
